Biojuego Musical

About the board game

1 • Can I play Biojuego Musical without the board game?

No. You need the game with the pieces, dice, and cards, which include QR codes on one side, to be able to download the music and play.
Contact us to get yours.

The music will play automatically when you scan, with your phone or tablet, the QR code on one of the musical cards or playlist cards of Biojuego Musical, as long as you have the free app of the game installed.

Biojuego Musical includes 187 of the 189 musical pieces selected by Rolando Toro that make up the IBF 2009 repertoire.
When creating the game, we noticed that some songs were not available on Spotify, so we added them to the platform. Only two pieces have not been added yet due to copyright issues.
These are:
L’Horloge De Ma Vie – Jean Pierre Posit (IBF 17-04)
Elegie – Jean Pierre Posit (MMU 16-07)

Of the 190 musical pieces, 21 are not the originals from the 2009 repertoire, as they are not available on Spotify.
Of these 21, a total of 16 are classical music versions performed by other orchestras or conductors, so faithful to the original repertoire version that no differences are noticeable.
Only 5 present slight variations, although they are still completely recognizable.

Their meaning is explained in this guide:

  • 23 musical cards have a mask symbol in the bottom right corner on the front side, indicating that the song corresponds to a different version and not the original from the 2009 repertoire, as it is not available on Spotify.

  • On the Expressive cards: singing/miming, this symbol appears instead of a QR code. These cards are only used in the game mode where players form groups, indicating that one player, through miming and/or humming, must try to get their team to guess the title of one of the songs listed on the back of the card.
  • Three musical cards include this ‘prohibited’ symbol.
If you are playing without a Spotify Premium account, remove them from the deck (or ignore them if they appear), because the song does not start from the beginning and will not be recognizable during the game.
  • 000 / PLS / EXP: Identification code located at the bottom left of the back of the cards, indicating the corresponding number within Biojuego Musical. This is an internal organization code and is not required for playing the game.
  • IBF 00-00: Numbering located at the bottom right of the back of the musical cards, corresponding to the official numbering of the IBF 2009 repertoire. Some musical pieces from other collections referenced by the 2009 repertoire but not included in the official collection left by Rolando Toro have also been included.
  • (c12): This code may appear on the back of the musical cards immediately after the name of a dance, indicating that the piece is proposed in the CIMEB 2012 repertoire for that exercise.
  • Colores: The colors in Biojuego Musical also serve as a code, as each one corresponds to a dance category.
    See table

A future expansion of Biojuego Musical with the CIMEB 2012 repertoire is in the works, which will be fully compatible and complementary to this 2009 edition. The decision to develop it will depend on the reception of this first release, so that we can dedicate our time and energy to continuing this beautiful project.

About the app

1. • Where can I get the Biojuego Musical app?

Download the free app here

The free app installs automatically from the Apple Store and Google Play.
If you have difficulties installing it, visit these links and follow the instructions.

iPhone users

Android users

Biojuego Musical connects to Spotify using online databases. A secure and stable connection ensures the app functions correctly.

The Biojuego Musical app works on an iPhone 7 or later with iOS 14.8.1 or higher, or on an Android phone with 7.0 Nougat or higher.
The phone must have a functional rear camera, speaker, and internet connection.

The Biojuego Musical app has been primarily developed for mobile devices. On certain tablet models, it is possible to install apps designed for phones, so you can try it, although we cannot guarantee that it will work correctly.

Biojuego Musical requires a camera to scan the QR codes on the front of the musical cards. Without scanning the codes, you cannot enjoy the game.

First, check that your camera is working properly.
When installing the app for the first time, your phone may ask for permission to access the camera; make sure this permission is enabled.
If the problem persists, uninstall the app and reinstall it so that the system requests the permission again.

In principle, it should work with any Bluetooth or AirPlay speaker connected to your phone, although we cannot guarantee it will work with all devices.
If it doesn’t work, check the settings or look for compatibility issues between your phone and the speaker.

It is not necessary, but we recommend that you read the information at this link.

1 – First, check that the card is not damaged and make sure there is enough light for the camera to properly capture the QR code.

Avoid light reflections between the camera and the code, as they can prevent proper scanning.
You can reduce reflections by placing your hand between the light source and the card, making sure not to cover the QR code.

2 – If you travel abroad, in some countries certain cards may not work due to how Spotify manages music rights, which restrict the use of some music to that country. Upon returning from abroad, these cards should work normally.

There is also some incompatibility between certain iPhone models and the Spotify platform in relation to Biojuego Musical.
We are awaiting updates on both platforms; in the meantime, you can always play using a free account or without an account.

From the app’s settings button (gear icon located at the top right of the screen), you can select the language and choose between Spanish and English.

The Biojuego Musical app does not collect or store any data; it only accesses the name and profile image of your Spotify account. It does not access or store any other personal information, such as email, location, phone number, device information, playlists, history, or contact data.

Access is limited to the permissions strictly necessary to read QR codes and play music: camera access permission and playback permission on the device.

The app’s compatibility may change over time, as it depends on updates and policies from Apple, Google, and Spotify. Although we will work to keep it fully functional through new updates, we cannot guarantee that it will be available indefinitely.
